Meet Our Staff

Mike Sherman
Executive Director

Mike Sherman, Executive Director, has been the director of YMCA Camp Woodstock for twenty-three years. He remembers when the old boathouse, no longer standing, was the newest building in camp! Mike lives at camp with his wife, Susan. He enjoys his work here way too much, and can usually be found trout fishing in the Catskills if not at his desk.

Anthony (Tony) Gronski
Camp Director

Anthony has over ten years of experience working at YMCAs in New Jersey, Tennessee and Arkansas. In 2005, he settled at Camp Woodstock with his wife, Melany, and daughters, Madeline, Grace and Sophie. Anthony is responsible for the day-to-day operation of summer camp and the year-round conferencing and retreat center. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Penn State University in Parks and Recreation Management. Anthony enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, camping, fly fishing, sled riding, and traveling. His favorite place at Camp is Moonbow Rock via hiking.

Megan Szela
Office Manager

Megan joined the Camp Woodstock staff as office manager in July 2008. She has a Bachelor’s in History from the University of Connecticut and enjoys cooking, reading, playing the piano, and traveling. Megan has lived in nearby Pomfret for over twenty years and loves life in the Quiet Corner.

Hannah Richardson
Youth Leadership Director

Hannah Richardson originally hails from the shores of the Chesapeake Bay, but now calls Camp Woodstock home. She earned a degree in Anthropology from the College of Wooster and has since spent her time doing everything from gutting houses in Mississippi to teaching in Ecuador. Hannah is now responsible for overseeing the LIT/CIT program as well as numerous retreats throughout the year. When she’s not working at camp, Hannah most often spends her time traveling/exploring, reading, hiking/camping, running, teaching herself to quilt, and counting down the days until summer camp starts!

Summer Staff 2009

Best of all, meet the summer staff. Most come from the state of Connecticut.  Other staff come from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylania, Massassusetts, England, New Zealand, Australia, Columbia and Jamaica. Almost all of the staff have been campers at Woodstock and have worked their way through the ranks of LIT, CIT, Junior Counselor and Senior Counselor. They attend colleges all over the country: Boston College, University of North Carolina, Tufts, Vermont University, University of New Hampshire, Bates, BYU, NYU and Penn State, just to name a few. They have been trained here at Woodstock to give your child the best summer experience of their life!
